For palak dal soup for babies and toddler- To make palak dal soup for babies and toddler, combine the spinach, green moong dal and ¾ cup of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.

1/4 cup finely chopped spinach (palak) 2 tbsp masoor dal (split red lentil) , soaked for 15 minutes and drained minutes and drained
1/2 tsp ghee
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
2 tbsp finely chopped onions
1/4 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
a pinch of chilli powder
restricted quantity of salt (optional)

Combine the masoor dal and ½ cup of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.

Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Keep aside.

Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds and asafoetida.

When the seeds crackle, add the onions and ginger-garlic paste and sauté on a medium flame for 30 seconds.

Add the spinach, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.

Add the cooked dal, mash well with a potato masher and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
Serve lukewarm.
