For beetroot soup for babies- Combine the beetroot and ¾ cup of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Cool slightly and blend in a mixer till smooth.
- Strain the mixture using a strainer.
- Serve the beetroot soup for babies lukewarm.
Variation: carrot soup- ½ cup of beetroot can be replaced with ½ cup of peeled and roughly chopped carrot and proceed as per the recipe.

For Beetroot Soup for Babies, firstly buy the perfect beetroot. Select beetroots which are firm and have a pale brown outer skin covering. They should be smooth and free from any cuts, blemishes or other damage. Avoid large beets with hairy taproots.

Wash the beetroot very well with clean water to make it free of dirt if any . Wash it under running water to prevent any sort of contamination.

Wipe it with a clean kitchen towel.

Trim of both the sides of the beetroot using a sterlized sharp knife.

Peel the beetroot with a sterilized peeler. Peel it very well so that no fibrous part remain as these are not easily digestible by babies at 7 to 8 months.

Using a sterilized knife roughly chop the beetroot. Chop them into medium sized pieces.

Transfer the chopped beetroot into a thoroughly cleaned pressure cooker.

Add ¾ cup of water to it. This is for pressure cooking.

Pressure cook for 4 whistles. Then allow the pressure cooker to cool down slightly and let the steam escape before opening it.

Open the lid. This is how cooked beetroot will look like. Again cool it slightly.

Transfer it to a mixer jar. Do not drain the water. This will help in blending and getting the needed consistency of Beetroot Soup for Babies.

Blend till it is smooth. Ensure that no pieces of beetroot remain behind, as this might lead to choking.

Strain the mixture using a strainer. This is to double ensure that the mixture is free of any small beetroot piece. This step is important when feeding Beetroot Soup for Babies above 6 months. When feeding in the beginning months strain the soup. After the baby is 8 to 9 months old, you can avoid straining.
