Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups sprouted vaal (field beans/ butter beans) (field beans/ butter beans)
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup finely chopped tomato
- salt to taste
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk (nariyal ka doodh)
Method
- Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add the garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, sugar and tomatoes, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Add the sprouted vaal, salt and 2 cups of water, mix well and cover with a lid and cook on a medium flame for 10 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Add the coconut milk, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot.

Love the val dal and its cooked with coconut milk. I reduced the spice a bit.

woow.. aromatic tittori dal.. a great variation in dal.. the sprouted vaal gives a nice crunch in every bite.. the flavour of the coconut milk rules this dal.. giving it a creamy texture.. and mildly spiced up..
