Ingredients

For The Dough
1 cup plain flour (maida)
1 tsp (5 grams) fresh yeast , crumbled
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp oil
a pinch of salt

Other Ingredients
oil for deep-frying
castor sugar for coating
Method
    Method
  1. Combine all the ingredients except the oil in a bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water until it is smooth and elastic.
  2. Add the oil and knead again.
  3. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and allow it to prove till it is double in volume (approx. 15 to 20 minutes).
  4. Press the dough lightly with your palms to remove the air.
  5. Divide into 15 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  6. Flatten the ball a little and deep fry in hot oil over a medium flame till golden brown on both sides.
  7. Sprinkle castor sugar on top and serve.
