A flour-based mithai from Gujarat, golpapdi is a hot favourite with most people because it is not only tasty but also easy to prepare. It is made by heating ghee and roasting jowar flour in it till light brown in colour. Then it is removed from the flame and jaggery is added to it and mixed till it melts completely. Finally it is poured in a thali and set aside to set for some time.
Here we have a variation using jowar flour. This jowar flour golpapdi for kids makes use of only 2 ingredients other than jowar, that’s ghee and jaggery. Here, we have made jowar Golpapdi with iron-rich ingredients like jowar flour and jaggery, bound together with ghee.
This mouth-watering sukhadi stays good in an air-tight dabba for 2-3 days, so you can keep it handy to answer your baby’s sudden hunger pangs.
This jowar golpapdi is an iron rich treat for babies who are teething and also toddler who are age 1 and above. It’s soft texture is sure to soothe their gums while providing nourishment.

Jowar golpapdi for kids- Heat the ghee in a non-stick kadhai, add the jowar flour, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Remove from the flame, add the jaggery and mix well.
- When the jaggery melts and the mixture is still warm, pour it into the greased thali and spread it evenly with the help of the base of a small bowl (katori) or a flat spoon.
- Cut into diamond shaped pieces while it is still warm and keep aside to cool for 15 minutes.
- Serve jowar golpapdi for kids immediately or store in an air-tight container.

To make Jowar Golpapdi for Kids, you need only 3 ingredients – jowar flour, ghee and jaggery. Keep all the ingredients ready as you have to be quick in cooking and setting the mixture of golpapdi.

Also grease a thali of approx 5 inch and keep it ready.

Now take ghee in a non-stick kadhai and allow it to heat. Add 2½ tbsp. of ghee. This will suffice to make 8 pieces.

Once the ghee is hot, add the jowar flour to it. While Sukhadi is usually made with wheat flour, this is a variation to it. Jowar flour used in this recipe is a good source of iron and will help to build your baby’s hemoglobin levels.

Mix well using a flat ladle.

Cook jowar flour for Golpapdi on a medium flame for 3 minutes. Ensure to keep stirring occasionally, else the flour might get burnt.

Remove from the flame and immediately add chopped jaggery to it.

Mix very well till the jaggery melts completely in the hot mixture of Golpapdi.

While the mixture is still warm, pour in into the greased thali.

Spread the mixture of Jowar Golpapdi for Kids evenly with the help of a small bowl (katori) or a flat spoon, whichever is comfortable for you.

Again while the mixture is still warm, immediately cut into diamond shaped pieces using a sharp knife. You will get 10 pieces approximately. You need to make pieces at this stage, as once the mixture has cooled down you won’t get uniform even shaped pieces. However remember to not separate them out from each other immediately, as this will also not result in uniform shaped pieces.

Keep Golpapdi for Toddlers aside to cool for at least 15 minutes.

Then separate out the pieces and serve jowar golpapdi for kids | sukhadi for kids | golpapdi for toddlers |. If you wish after cooling completely you can store them in an air-tight container. They will stay fresh for 2 to 3 days.
