lachha onion recipe | laccha pyaaz | masala pickled onions | lachha onion salad | is made of easily available ingredients in India: 1 ½ cups onion rings, 1/4 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder, ½ tsp finely chopped green chillies, ¼ tsp black pepper powder, ½ tsp chilli powder, ¼ tsp chaat masala, 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania), salt to taste and 1 tsp lemon juice. Remove the top and bottom edge of the onion.

Peel the skin of the onion. Discard it.

Cut the medium size thick rings of the onion.

Separate each ring. We need 1 ½ cups of onion rings.

Immerse the onion rings in the ice cold water. This makes them crisp.

To make lachha onion, in a deep bowl, add 1 ½ cups of onion rings emmersed in chilled water.

Add 1/4 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder.

Add ½ tsp finely chopped green chillies.

Add ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper (kalimirch).

Add 1/2 tsp chilli powder.

Add ¼ tsp chaat masala.

Add 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania).

Add salt to taste.

Add 1 tsp lemon juice.

Mix well.

Serve Lachha onions with roti, sabji or tikkas of your choice.
