Pressure cook the dal on medium-high. do not pressure cook it more than 1 whistle or add too much water else, the dal will become like a soup.

Ingredients

1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
1/4 cup chopped capsicum
1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup spring onions
1/4 cup chopped cucumber
salt to taste
cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch asafoetida (hing)
coriander (dhania) powder as required
chilli powder (optional)
2 tsp lemon juice
1/8 cup water (just enough to pressure cook the dal)
Method


  1. Soak the moong dal overnight or atleast for 5 hrs.
  2. Drain the moong dal.
  3. Take a pressure cooker, add 1 tsp oil.
  4. When the oil is hot, add hing, jeera (seeds should crackle), corriander & the red chilli powder.
  5. Add the vegetables and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add the moong dal and mix the masala and vegetables.
  7. Add the lemon juice and salt to taste.
  8. Add as little water as possible, just enough to pressure cook the dal upto 1 whistle.
  9. Wait till the steam from the pressure cooker has escaped, open and serve the moong delight.
