A simple recipe of rice, tossed with butter and salt, which tastes great with all kinds of dal and subzis . Although only two tablespoons of butter are used, you can actually feel the rich, buttery taste on your palate.


You can shape this rice like a ring using a mould, and serve the gravy in the centre, to make a simple meal seem attractive and exotic.


You can also serve it as Baked Beans with Buttered Rice or with some Continental veggies such as Creamy Mixed Vegetables in Spinach Gravy or Baked Vegetables in Tomato Sauce .

Ingredients
2 tbsp butter
1 cup rice (chawal) , washed and drained
1 tsp oil
salt to taste
Method
    Method
  1. Boil enough water in a deep non-stick pan, add the oil, little salt and rice, mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 10 to 12 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  2. Drain and keep aside.
  3. Heat the butter in a broad non-stick pan, add the rice and little salt, mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
  4. Use as required.

Buttered rice.. simple but yet so tasty.. with lots of butter.. which goes with every curry or gravy.. And this is also a kids favourite recipe..
