Ingredients

For Sabji Dewa Musur Dal
1 cup masoor (split red lentil) dal
1 1/4 cups chopped and boiled mixed vegetables ( carrot , french beans , green peas and cauliflower florets)
1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
2 slit green chillies
salt to taste
2 tsp mustard (rai / sarson) oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
3 whole dry kashmiri red chillies , broken into pieces
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1/2 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania) for garnish
Method

For sabji dewa musur dal

    For sabji dewa musur dal
  1. To make sabji dewa musur dal, soak the masoor dal in enough water for 1 hour. Drain and keep aside.
  2. In a pressure cooker, combine the soaked masoor dal, slit green chilies, turmeric powder, salt and 2 cups of water, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  3. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  4. Whisk it well and keep aside.
  5. Heat the mustard oil in a deep pan, add the cumin seeds and dry kashmiri red chilies and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  6. Add the onions and garlic and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  7. Add the tomatoes, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  8. Add the cumin seeds powder, coriander powder, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
  9. Add the cooked whisked dal, mixed vegetables, salt and ½ cup of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  10. Serve sabji dewa musur dal hot garnished with coriander.
