Ingredients

For Peanut Chaat
1 cup raw peanuts
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped cucumber
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1 1/2 tsp chaat masala
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp baked sev or sev
2 tbsp pomegranate (anar)

  1. To make peanut chaat , combine the peanuts, turmeric powder, salt and enough water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  3. Drain and cool it completely.
  4. Once cooled, put in a deep bowl along with all other ingredients and toss well.
  5. Serve the peanut chaat immediately.

How to make peanut chaat

  1. To prepare peanut chaat recipe | Indian peanut chaat with tomatoes, onions | healthy peanut chaat | boiled peanut chaat |  we will first boil peanuts, in a pressure cooker toss in the peanuts. If in a hurry, skip the entire process of boiling peanuts and use store bought roasted peanuts and proceed further.
  2. Add turmeric powder.
  3. Add salt and enough water.
  4. Mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  5. Drain the peanuts and cool it completely. Instead of peanuts, you can make use of cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts and even chickpeas and follow the rest of the procedure to make a quick evening snack.
  6. Once cooled, put the boiled peanuts in a deep bowl. Instead of boiling the peanuts, you can roast them till light brown if you like crunchy peanut chaat.
  7. To make quick peanut chaat, add chopped tomatoes in the bowl. You can add any veggies of your choice that are available.
  8. Add chopped cucumber. If in season, you can add chopped raw mangoes to boiled peanut salad.
  9. Add finely chopped onions. Also, you can add some boiled corns, grated carrots and beetroots, chopped bell peppers to the chatpata peanut chaat.
  10. Add finely chopped coriander.
  11. Add finely chopped green chillies. If making for kids skip adding finely chopped chillies.
  12. Add chilli powder as per the spice level you prefer.
  13. Add cumin seeds powder for an earthy flavour.
  14. Add chaat masala for a nice tang. We have added salt while boiling the peanuts and also chaat masala is a little salty hence, we are not adding salt additionally in this recipe.
  15. Add lemon juice to make boiled peanut chaat refreshing.
  16. Add baked sev for a nice crunch. We have used baked sev as it makes the recipe healthy. If you wish, you can use deep fried sev.
  17. Add pomegranate.
  18. Toss well with the help of two spoons and our peanut salad is ready. Taste a spoonful and adjust the amount of spices as per your liking in the boiled peanut chaat.
