To make dashmi roti, combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead into a semi-stiff dough using enough water. Divide the dough into 5 equal portions and roll out each portion into a 175 mm. (7") diameter circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook each roti, using a little oil, till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides. Serve with til chutney, achaar and curds.

An all-time favourite Maharashtrian savoury dashmi roti is made with a dough of whole wheat flour and besan flavoured with a variety of spice powders. It is easy to prepare since it makes use of readily-available spice powders, but is super tasty too!

  2. Add 1/4 cup besan (bengal gram flour).
  3. Add 1 tbsp oil.

I tried your Dashmi Roti ( savory ) also. which reminded me of my childhood. In our vacations we use to go to native place.In the early morning my grandmother used to make these Dashmi rotis & all of us used to feast on it alongwith Homemade curds & Til chutney. In this fast food age, we have forgotten our traditional recipes. Thanks for this simple recipe
