No Bake Desserts

Some people think that except Indian mithai most other desserts need some amount of baking. Yet others think that only baked desserts are exotic. These are simply misconceptions. Across the world, there are fabulous desserts that can be made without baking.

Our favourite no-bake recipes like the Brownie Sundae and the Chocolate Chiffon Pie are totally irresistible, and so are pancake based desserts like the Chocolate Pancakes with Whipped Cream and Nuts, and the Nutella and Strawbwerry Mini Pancakes . Easy desserts like the Quick Strawberry Delight ensure that you surprise even a sudden guest with an awesome dessert, while unique ones like the Ice-Cream on a Coconut Crust entice your guests with their innovative presentation and irresistible flavour.

Kids will go ga-ga over desserts with all-time favourite ingredients like jelly and Oreo biscuits, like the Fruit and Jelly Sundae and the Oreo Biscuits with White Chocolate and Orange Mousse – but beware, you can’t keep the adults away from these delightful treats either. Ultimately, what we say is that it would be nice to have an oven at home, but you don’t necessarily need one to turn out an exciting dessert! Try these recipes, and you will agree whole-heartedly with us. Happy Cooking!

Here is a mousse with a desi dimension to it! thandai mousse would be appropriate for occasions like holi and other indian festivals or get-togethers. The rich ingredients like almonds, khus-khus and cardamom that are present in the thandai syrup give a slightly spicy touch to this mousse. This recipe uses readymade thandai syrup, but in rajasthan, the spices are ground freshly using a mortar and pestle every time thandai is made.
Quick strawberry delight is truly a quick-fix… a simple delicacy made with multiple layers of whipped cream, biscuits and strawberries. The sweet biscuits, strawberries and whipped cream combine to deliver a wonderful flavour and texture; satisfaction guaranteed in every mouthful.
Here is a rather different pie in which the crust is made of coconut. In the chocolate chiffon pie, chocolate mousse is set on a crusty thin coconut base, and garnished with whipped cream. When grating the coconut for the base, use a grater with medium-sized holes… if the coconut is too thickly or thinly grated, it will ruin the pie.

Nuts, Nutella, ice-cream, brownie, name what you like and you will find it in this Brownie Sundae! With readily available ingredients, this dessert can be prepared in less than 10 minutes, to be enjoyed slowly over a long chat and remembered for a longer time thereafter. It is interesting how Nutella beautifully replaces chocolate sauce, in fact more flavourfully, in this dessert. Pickwick biscuits are drizzled with Nutella and topped with vanilla ice-cream, ready for the finishing touch with more wafers and nuts. Wow, this is one lip-smacking sundae no one can resist!

A delight that melts in your mouth and leaves an indelible mark of joy! this mousse is as light and soft as a soufflé, and has been made with paneer—an ingredient that you might not have thought of making mousses with before! the sharp lemon accent is the highlight of this recipe, both visually and taste-wise—and so, the use of lemon essence is very essential. The only thing you need to take care of is the balancing of sugar and lemon juice.

Here is a dessert you can conjure up in minutes, provided you have some jelly, whipped cream and fruits at home. All you need to do is chop, mix, top, chill, serve! The fruits we have used are suggestive; you can use any that are available at home. You could even exercise your creativity and come up with a fruit combo that complements the colour of the jelly cubes you have. This will make the Fruit and Jelly Sundae appealing to the eye too!
White chocolate has a very luscious and creamy texture that coats the taste-buds and lingers for a while. In this delicious preparation, the richness of white chocolate is further enhanced with milk and whipped cream and laced with peppy tinges of orange squash. The resulting mousse makes a wonderful topping for crunchy crushed Oreo biscuits. Serve the Oreo Biscuits with White Chocolate and Orange Mousse chilled, as a special treat for your family and friends.

The fact that kids love these Nutella and Strawberry Mini Pancakes is a good excuse to make it often, but the truth is that adults love it just as much! Nice and soft, these mini pancakes look dainty with the strawberry dotted Nutella topping. Make the pancakes as thin as possible so that the topping dominates the flavour. Relish it nice and fresh. You can also experiment with other chocolaty treats like the Nutella Chocolate Chip and Sea Salt Cookies and the Grilled Chocolate Cheese Sandwich .
