800 Baked Recipe, Easy Veg Baked Indian recipes.

Baking is an awesomely versatile, generally healthy and convenient cooking method. Just compare standing near the stove and frying umpteen samosas one after the other, as against baking a whole batch at one go without even having to stand near the oven. Stow it in and go ahead with other chores till you hear the ting!

Numerous Indian dishes, which were traditionally deep fried in a kadhai, shallow fried in a tava or cooked in a handi, can easily be baked in an oven. Sometimes, you need to make slight modifications to the traditional recipe, sometimes not even that. It is quite an easy and comfortable alternative, especially in the hot summer days when you do not even feel like entering the kitchen let alone stand and stir or fry for a long time.

Healthy Indian Baked Dishes

A dish that is normally deep-fried becomes healthy when it is baked. The Samosa is the best example. Baked Samosa is a healthy snack, which can be enjoyed with tea in the evenings. The only thing is that Baked Samosas are best had hot and fresh, as they might get a little chewy after a while. Otherwise, the taste is awesome!

From sweets and savouries to the main course and desserts, a wide range of dishes can be made by baking. While you can initially start with regular baked recipes, over time – as you gain control over the cooking technique – you can even adapt your regular recipes to baking in the oven. It will reduce the usage of fats and also make it easier and quicker.

4 Tips to remember while baking

1. Time and temperature: The key thing to remember while baking is that the baking time and temperature will determine how your food will turn out. This will always depend on the size of your dish or its weight. For example if your dish is very dense and large, it will take longer to cook.

2. Pre-heating the oven: This simply means keeping your oven ready at the required temperature you want to cook your food at. Firstly, preheating your oven saves up on your actual cooking time as the oven is hot already. Secondly, a lot of times food is cooked unevenly due to uneven heating of the oven. To avoid such complications, pre-heating is a must.

3. Always make sure to use oven mittens or a thick folded cloth to remove the baked food out of the oven.

4. If you are baking breads, cookies or other desserts, make sure you allow it to rest before slicing or consuming. For example, cookies eaten straight from the oven will be soft and will lack the crunch and texture.
