To make methi ghavan, combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl along 2 cups of water to make a batter of pouring consistency. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) on a medium flame, grease it lightly using a little oil. Pour a ladleful of batter on the tava (griddle) and spread evenly into a 125mm. (5”) diameter circle. Cook the ghavan using a little oil, till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides. Repeat with the remaining batter to make more 11 ghavans. Serve immediately.

  2. Add 1/4 cup chopped fenugreek (methi). Methi leaves have a distinctive aroma that adds a pleasant fragrance to the Ghavan.
  3. Add 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies. Green chillies in Methi Ghavan primarily serve to add a pungent kick and a subtle heat to the dish.
  4. Add 1/2 tsp grated ginger (adrak). Ginger adds a warm, pungent flavor that complements the slightly bitter taste of fenugreek leaves.
  5. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) for added flavour. 
  6. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi).  It imparts a beautiful golden hue to the ghavan, making it visually appealing.
  7. Add salt as per taste. 
  8. Add 2 1/2 cups of water. 
  9. Mix well to make a batter of pouring consistency.

pro tips to make methi ghavan recipe

  1. The batter should have a pouring consistency. If it's too thin, the Ghavan will be too crispy, and if it's too thick, it will be tough.
  2. Lightly grease the tawa with oil before pouring the batter. Too much oil will make the Ghavan greasy.
  3. Use fresh, tender Methi leaves for the best flavor and aroma.
  4. For a twist you can also add finely chopped onions to the batter.

These ghavans came out so well,nice colour and so very tasty.Everybody enjoyed it.A very simple recipe with basic ingredients. Will be making again doubling the quantity.

a perfect recipe for a busy early morning where not just time is a constraint but also imagine all the washing that follows it... this simple recipe comprises of ingredients that are readily available at home and it is ready to eat in almost 15-20 mins... great flavor... a light yet nutritious breakfast... i had it with green chutney... loved it!!
