MY PAGE
I do not want a kitchen
All shining and smart
So impersonal – I’ll feel lost
Give me an old fashioned room
With a few odd things
And running water
I need no more.
- From ‘Kitchen Poems’ by Dhiruben Patel
Welcome to this issue which has turned out to be quite travel oriented! On a memorable trip to Dubai with my family in June, I visited two impressive hotels - Kempinski Mall of the Emirates, and Atlantis –The Palm. Chefs from well known restaurants in both hotels agreed to share some exotic vegetarian recipes with Cooking & more. On behalf of my team, I would like to sincerely thank them. I’m sure you will enjoy making the dishes at home.
Also in this issue is an introduction to Durban’s impressive Hilton Hotel, discovered by Editor-in-chief Sanjay Dalal who was in South Africa to run his most gruelling marathon ever.
Coming back to cooking, we have a mélange of interesting articles for you to devour. Jigyasa Giri and Pratibha Jain tell us how to use the principles of ayurveda in the kitchen. Diamond entrepreneur Kiritbhai Jasani and his wife Malini whip up a sushi party menu for readers looking for innovative party options. Elsewhere in the issue learn how to use foil to best effect in your cooking.
August heralds the start of the festive season, with Raksha Bandhan setting off the celebrations. This year commit yourselves to making a healthy meal for your brother, and impress him and other guests with an attractive floral arrangement. Use the one stroke painting technique to create lovely invitations or thank you cards for your guests.
As usual we remind you to focus on your health. Master Ryuho Okawa shows us how to build a happy relationship between the mind and body and how to live a healthy lifestyle.
