Turmeric with Black Pepper for Anti-inflammation

I do love what it does for my well being. I somehow stopped without realizing and don’t know how that happened because I love the way it helped with inflammation and energy. This morning I think the 1/8 tsp of tumeric was more than it should have been. Due to a few lumps within the measurement. My question is how much does this matter?

Tarla Dalal    Dear Teresa, Thank you for trying the recipe and sharing your feedback. Turmeric is healthy and a minor increase in quantity for a day should not really cause any side effects. However look out for any allergy or upset stomach. If you have any side effect, stop having it and consult your doctor. It is best to have turmeric within the given limits only.

Can u use honey or real maple syrup instead of olive oil?

Tarla Dalal    Thank you for your feedback. We have used ghee as curcumin - the substance in turmeric powder has high bioavailability in the presence of fat as it is fat-soluble. But you can use honey if you wish to. Honey also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties.

I have been taking turmeric and ground pepper in water or kombucha. No oil. Will it still benefit me if I mix with water. Don''t know if I can handle the oil paste mixture. But truly glad I saw this post. Thank you. I''m 80 years old. Fairly healthy except for screwed up low thyroid.

Tarla Dalal    Kathy, thanks for your note. Curcumin also needs some kind of fat for its absorption. So turn to healthy fats like ghee or olive oil.

I mix it all together turmeric ginger black pepper with coconut oil. It does go a little hard. This does not worry me. I take it every morning 1 teaspoon have been doing this for about 5 years. Are you saying it does not work as well by mixing a lot together regards Betty

Thanks for the recipe. If I am using 5 gram of turmeric, 1/10 teaspoonful of black pepper is kinda too little to blend really smooth. Will the black pepper loose its active ingredient if I ground a weeks supply for everyday use instead of grinding the little quantity needed everyday?

Tarla Dalal    Thank you for your feedback. There is no need to blend this mixture. You just need to mix it. Also it is best served immediately after mixing. Kindly share your feedback on recipes and articles you like.

Hi, I am taking turmeric, pepper mixed with virgin coconut oil in hot water, but lately I am getting heart burn, why is that

Tarla Dalal    Pepper may irritate the digestive tract and that may be a reason for acidity.
