Served with a garnish of lemon juice and coriander, this Chat-Pata Pav brings alive myriad flavours and textures on your palate, from the lazy comfort of butter to the crunch of veggies and the pep of spices.

As far as possible, enjoy Chatpata masala pav fresh, but when you are in a rush, wrap it in aluminium foil, and enjoy it on-the-go, within an hour or so. You can also have as Evening Tea Snacks.

Ingredients

For Chat-pata Pav
6 ladi pav
6 tsp butter

For The Masala
2 tbsp butter
3/4 cup finely chopped onions
1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
1/2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
1 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
1/2 tsp black salt (sanchal)
1/2 tsp garam masala

For The Garnish
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
lemon wedges
Method

  1. Heat the butter in a broad non-stick pan, add the onions and capsicum sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic, tomatoes, turmeric powder chilli powder, salt and 2 tbsp of water and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the black salt and garam masala, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
  4. Divide the masala into 6 equal portions. Keep aside.

  1. To make chat-pata pav, heat 1 tsp of butter on a non-stick tava (griddle), add a portion of the prepared masala and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  2. Place 1 slit pav vertically, open and place it on the masala.
  3. Spread the masala evenly over the pav till it gets evenly coated form all the sides.
  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to make more 5 more chat- pata pav.
  5. Garnish the chat-pata pav with coriander and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

  12. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally. Also, you can toss in some freshly chopped coriander. Divide the masala into 6 equal portions and keep aside.

    OMG!! OMG!! A MIND BLOWING AND A CONVENTION BREAKING RECIPE!! EASY TO MAKE AND MUCH MORE DELIGHTFUL IN TASTE!! PERFECT COMBO OF ALL THE SPICES MAKING IT A CHATPATA ONE...     Chatapata pav.. the name tells everything.. little spicy.. with chatpata flavour.. i made this for my family.. and just added little cheese inside the masala.. and beleive me they just pounced on the dish.. its a big hit.. in my house

    Indian's favourite pav just got better! Its not too tough and extremely flavoursome! not the healthiest so i would recommend eating during the day rather than at night.
