kashmiri kahwa | kashmiri tea for winter | traditional kashmiri kahwa drink | with 13 amazing images.
Kashmiri Kahwa, a treasured winter beverage from the picturesque Himalayan valley, is known for its soothing warmth and aromatic richness. This traditional drink combines Kashmiri green tea, saffron, and a bouquet of spices to create a soul-warming cup perfect for chilly days. Infused with natural flavours and gentle heat, it not only comforts the senses but also provides nourishment, making it an ideal Kashmiri tea for winter. Its inviting aroma and golden hue make every sip feel luxurious and calming.
The preparation of traditional Kashmiri Kahwa begins with blooming saffron strands in warm water to release their natural colour and fragrance. Meanwhile, water is boiled with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and a little sugar, creating a spiced infusion that forms the heart of the drink. These spices are known for their warming properties, making them especially beneficial during cold seasons, as they help improve circulation and keep the body cozy.
Once the spiced water is ready, Kashmiri green tea leaves are gently simmered in it, allowing the flavours to meld beautifully. The tea is then strained to obtain a clear, fragrant liquid. Unlike regular chai, this brew remains light, refreshing, and herbaceous, with no milk added. The addition of saffron not only enhances the colour but also lends the drink its signature floral aroma and luxurious depth.
After straining, the tea is simmered briefly with the saffron mixture and generous amounts of finely chopped almonds, which add a delightful crunch. These almonds make the beverage richer and more wholesome, turning each sip into a combination of warmth and texture. The final cup is garnished with a few more saffron strands, enhancing both visual appeal and flavour.
Kashmiri Kahwa is especially valued as a winter drink because its ingredients—like cinnamon, cloves and cardamom—naturally generate warmth in the body. The antioxidants from green tea and saffron help support immunity, while almonds offer healthy fats that keep energy levels stable. This harmonious blend of heat, aroma, and nutrition makes the drink a comforting remedy against winter chills.
Indeed, this is a cup you’ll love to savour slowly—the rising steam, the fragrance of spices, and the light crunch of almonds make the experience truly special. A hot cup of Kashmiri Kahwa on a cold winter morning or evening instantly refreshes the senses, uplifts the mood, and keeps you warm from within. It’s a timeless beverage that beautifully captures the essence of winter comfort.
Aside from Kashmiri Kahwa (Kashmiri Tea) you can also try other unique drinks like the Orange Green Tea and Phudina Green Tea.
