Ingredients

For The Crust
1/2 cup butter
3 tbsp castor sugar
1 1/2 cups plain flour (maida)

For The Topping
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (akhrot)
1/2 cup castor sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup fresh cream
1/4 cup honey
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Method

For the crust

    For the crust
  1. Cream the butter and castor sugar in a deep bowl and mix well till light and fluffy.
  2. Add the plain flour and knead gently into a soft dough, without using any water.
  3. Flatten the dough into a 5” by 9” baking tray and spread the dough evenly using your palm.
  4. Refrigerate for 15 minutes or till firm.
  5. Prick it with a fork at regular intervals and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and keep aside.

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a broad non-stick pan and cook on a slow flame for 4 to 5 minutes, while stirring continuously. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Pour the topping mixture over the baked crust and spread it evenly using a spoon.
  2. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 25 minutes.
  3. Remove from the oven. Allow it to cool completely and cut into square.
  4. Store in an air-tight container.

The main star of the recipe is the butterscotch topping. It takes the plain biscuit base to another level. It is delicious and heart-warming. Takes you back to your childhood days and parents might want to make this for their children. It's a sweet treat for all age groups.

My kids just loved this. They took it to the neighbors and they loved it. The butter scotch topping with walnuts is just fantastic. I could have easily had 10 of these bars. There something to that mouth feel and aroma.
